I notice from prior posts that oftentimes there are problems after updating to the more current version of iTunes. I currently have version 7.0, and the apple website indicates 7.6.2 is the most current version of this program. Please explain why I should update.

What benefits are there to updating other than getting to play some of their newer version songs and videos ? Any forewarnings prior to doing so? I don't have external hard drive to backup to.

thanks

You upgrade because most of the time, there are some good bugfixes in the upgrades (particularly is you're currently running a X.0 version).

95% of the time, when people report problems after upgrading, particularly if the problems are related to connecting to the iTunes Store or CDDB, it is because their firewalls/security software/etc hasn't carried over the allowances they made for the previous version of iTunes, and is now blocking the new version of iTunes.
